Having been an early 14th century Aisled Hall House dendro-dated 1311 and as you would expect you can feel the weight of history in every corner of every room and is one of only a few of Grade 2 star properties to be this country.

Historians have discovered that this property originated as the Master's House of The Hospital of John the Baptist, which was first recorded in the 1260s and is mention in town records until the 16th century.

When you step down into the beamed sitting room you are instantly struck by the sight of a magnificent five hundred year old carved Tudor inglenook fireplace which is 9 feet wide and features the original salt niche.

From the sitting room you pass under a carved 16 feet dias beam into the kitchen which feature medieval joists being the support for the Masters solar bedroom above a room were corbels support the main fireplace and two medieval lamp niches.

There is a vaulted and beamed rear hall set under a catslide roof from where you access the bathroom and a dogleg style staircase leads you to the beamed landing.

The master bedroom features a stunning 14th century fireplace with a adjacent ogee niche in the wall. In the 14th century this was the "Solar bedroom" of the Masters of the Hospitals of St John the Baptist. The second bedroom was created back in the 17th century when the medieval hall, was open to the roof and since been floored. This room features a huge Tudor Flemish brick chimney breast of hand made bricks. A second staircase takes you to the third bedroom in the attic space where you can still see some of the soot stained rafters from when it was an open hall house.

Being just off New Romney high street you are ideally placed to stroll to the shops for a little retail therapy and enjoy the local pubs and restaurants. You can even leave the car safe and secure at home as this property also has allocated off road parking to the rear.

So, if character, history and convenience has been high on your wish list then this is a must see property.
